22 Pray for ELCA seminary graduates, including those who have sensed a calling to serve as pastors, associates in ministry, diaconal ministers and deaconesses, and those who will use their knowledge in other arenas of service.
Pray for Denise and Pastor Robert Schmalzle, missionaries in Nairobi, Kenya. Bob is the pastor of the
English-language Ngong Road International Lutheran Congregation, a ministry of the Kenya Evangelical Lutheran Church (KELC), and serves the KELC in the area of Christian education. Denise serves in health education and outreach.
24 Pray for people who fill the roles of planners, visionaries, dreamers, designers, strategists, and detail people in ELCA congregations, institutions and agencies, that they may help us look wisely to the future and determine how best to be useful to God in the service of others.
25 Pentecost 2 (second Sunday after Pentecost) O God, look with mercy upon the people of Botswana and Zimbabwe, as Zimbabwe struggles with economic and political uncertainty. May the companion relationship between the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Zimbabwe and the ELCA Upstate New York Synod be a source of solace and encouragement.
26 Pray for high school graduates, including graduates of our Lutheran schools, that they may find the world welcoming of their gifts and that they may find ways to serve God in serving the world.
Pray for Karin Johnson and Kim Kavazanjian, participants in the Young Adults in Global Mission program
in Argentina. Thank God for the United Evangelical Lutheran Church in Argentina and its willingness to receive young adults from the ELCA.
Pray for college and university graduates, including graduates of our 28 ELCA colleges and universities.
Ask that they may go into the world as blessings to others and aware of God's blessings to them.
Thank God for Margarita Romo who brought the Gospel in Word and service to farm worker camps for
many years. Her love and care for children developed into the first children's church for farm workers, now Resurrection House Mission, a trusted, multifaceted ministry center of the ELCA serving farm workers. Ask God to continue to bless this ministry with faithful leaders and the resources necessary to be effective in the Tommy Town section of Dade City, Florida.
30 We pray for Pastor Beth Graham and Risen Lord Lutheran Church, Conifer, Colo., completing its first capital fund campaign with the Stewardship Key Leaders. Organized as a congregation in April 2007, Risen Lord is now purchasing a church site with the help of the ELCA Mission Investment Fund.
31 Visit of Mary to Elizabeth Pray for all world leaders and other people as they work for peace Middle East, especially for Marcia and Pastor Mark Holman, serving at the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer in Jerusalem.
